This type usually goes past the first layer of skin and into the fat layer. Some bleeding occurs, maybe a trickle and scabbing. Scars are left but are usually thin and superficial, rarely lasting more than a year tops. Your tool may be some type of pin, a knife, or generally any sharp edges (torn cans, flimsy blades from disposable leg razors, even plastic). This is the middle stages of cutting, around when addiction starts kicking in.
